Vertical rectangles in a purple background are some works of the writer: "The Adventures Of The Last Abencerages"; "René"; "The Martyrs". Reverse: Meditative muses. Two lyres and a cornucopia. Vertical rectangles in a purple background are some works of the writer: "Atala, The Genius of Christianity", "Memoirs From Beyond The Grave"; "The Natchez". Watermark: Profile of a woman overcome by flame of genius. Predominant colour: Purple. Artist: Eugène Robert Pougheon. Engravers: André Marliat (obverse) and Roberto Armanelli (reverse). Signatures: Jacques Belin (Le Controleur Général); Pierre Rousseau (Le Caissier Général); René Favre-Gilly (Le Secrétaire Général). Issuer: Bank of France. Legal Tender Status: This banknote was released and recalled between the 19th of July 1945 and the 2nd of July 1953. It circulated between the 20th of May 1946 and the 12th of October 1954. It was deprived of its legal tender status on the 1st of January 1963.
