Front: Portrait of Blaise Pascal, mathematician, physicist and French writer born in Clermont-Ferrand in 1623, died in Paris in 1662. Saint Jacques church tower in Paris. To the right, the cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand (without its spiers built in the 19th century) silhouetted in front of the Puy de Dôme. Back: Portrait of Blaise Pascal identically framed on both sides of the bank note by a colombier of Abbey of Port Royal and the Chapel of the Abbey, where Pascal retired in 1655 and gave a lecture in 1658 in terms of his work "Apologie" (Apology of the Christian Religion).
