roaring lion that was used as a symbol for the southern kingdom of Judah (ancient Hebrew seal found in archaeological
excavations at Megiddo in Northern Israel during the Turkish occupation of the land). Watermark: The face of the
labourer. Signatures: Governor of the Bank David Horowitz; Chairman of the Advisory Council J.E. Nebenzahl.
Design: Shamir Brothers; Jacob Zim. Date of Issue: 15 October 1959. Ceased to be legal tender: 31 March 1984.
