Front: Effigy of Žemaite (pen name of Julija Beniuševiciute-Žymantiene) (1845-1921), Lithuanian (Samogitian) writer. Back: Wooden St. Joseph Church in Palüše, near Ignalina. National Emblem of Lithuania - Vytis (Knight on horseback). Watermark: Vytis, the knight on horseback. Security features: Consecutively running horizontal and vertical black coloured serial numbers on the front of the banknote. Vertical, solid, 0.5 mm wide security thread. Watermarked paper. Invisible very sparse red security fibres (hairs) (front & back), denomination block "1" next to the watermark area and part of the design on the obverse fluoresce under ultraviolet light. Predominant colour: Brown. Artist: Giedrius Jonaitis. Signatures: Eduardas Vilkelis (Finance Minister, 1992-1995); Kazys Ratkevicius (Chairman of the Board, 1993-1996). Printing method: Intaglio. Issuer: Bank of Lithuania. Date of issue: 1994. Date of withdrawal: 1 March 2007. Total issue: N/a. Material: Cotton fiber paper.
