from the collection of Archduke Ferdinand of Tyrol). Old map of Africa with Elmina Castle drawn on it, situated on Gold Coast,
now Ghana. Portuguese coat of arms (Armillary sphere + the quinas + the castles). Reverse: Compass Rose of the Winds or
Windrose (Rosa dos ventos), Compass Star (Stella Maris) also known as Compass Rhumb Card with Compass Points. Enlarged
map of old West Africa and the drawing of the Elmina Castle, situated on Gold Coast, now Ghana. Detail (two men as navigators:
Pedro Nunes and Gil Eanes) from the Monument to the Discoveries "Padrão dos Descobrimentos" on the edge of the Tagus River
in Lisbon. Inaugurated on the 9th August 1960. Portuguese architect José Ângelo Cottinelli Telmo and sculptor Leopoldo de
Almeida. Sea shells. Rope border with sailors knots. Watermark: Identical portrait of Dom João II. Security features:
Watermark. Running serial numbers. Segmented metallic security strip. Main colour: Blue. Artist: Unknown.
