| Front: Dr. José Gaspar Rodríguez de Francia (1766–1840), the first dictator of Paraguay. Paraguayan coat of arms. Coat of arms of the Treasury, lion with Phrygian cap and the inscription "Paz y Justicia (Peace and Justice). Reverse: Controversial* painting "Declaration of Independence (14th of May 1811)", based on a famous painting of the italian artist Guillermo Da Ré. Watermark: Sadly, none. Security features: Vertical black ascending and horizontal serial numbers on the obverse of the banknote. Invisible to the eye coloured filament fibers (hairs), the embedded side of the security thread and the two hi-lite '1000' blocks fluoresce under ultraviolet light. Windowed on the obverse 3 mm wide colour-shifting security thread bearing demetalized text "REPUBLICA DEL PARAGUAY" and '10000' separated by five-pointed stars.
