National coat of arms – Escudo Nacional (created on 3 October 1825) depicting volcano between two castles, rainbow, rising sun, ocean, sky, clouds, quiver full of arrows, two cornucopias (horns of plenty), mountain range, oak and pine trees, mines, a bar, a drill, a wedge, a sledgehammer and a hammer. Reverse: Isla del Tigre – Tiger Island and the port city of Amapala, in the Gulf of Fonseca, in the Valle department of southwestern Honduras, where Dr. Soto inaugurated his government.
