It symbolises prosperity and fruitfulness in African mythologies. Health and Education in West Africa: Terrestrial geographical globe, books, chalk writing board, red cross, pharmacy symbol of a snake coiled around a cup, a.k.a. Caduceus medical symbol or a bowl of Hygeia with the serpent of Epidaurus. Back: Two Dromedary camels (Camelus dromedarius) in a desert of Sahel region. Watermark: Sawfish Akan goldweight pendant; Electrotype "1000". Security features: Consecutively running black and red horizontal serial numbers on the front of the banknote. Colored filament fibers (hairs), the security thread, denomination "1000" and the red serial number fluoresce while being exposed to ultraviolet light.
