1 Pound Sterling 2.12.1944 – Commercial Bank of Scotland Limited (Front: Portrait of John Pitcairn of Pitcairns (1743–1824), the Bank's First Chairman of Directors in 1810, in a cameo. The portrait is based on a painting by the Scottish artist Sir Henry Raeburn. Pitcairn founded the Commercial Bank of Scotland Ltd. along with Lord Cockburn and others on 15th March 1810. Tympanum fresco of the bank's building façade above its portico depicting allegorical figures, deities and saints. Thistle plants.
