20 Pounds 2016 (2018) (Front: David Hume (1711 - 1776) was a Scottish Enlightenment philosopher, historian, economist, and essayist, who is best known today for his highly influential system of philosophical empiricism, skepticism, and naturalism. Back: Dugald Stewart Monument. It is a memorial to the Scottish philosopher Dugald Stewart. It is situated on Calton Hill overlooking the city of Edinburgh and was designed by Scottish architect William Henry Playfair. It was completed in September 1831. A Treatise of Human Nature. It is a book by Scottish philosopher David Hume, considered by many to be Hume's most important work and one of the most influential works in the history of philosophy. The Treatise is a classic statement of philosophical empiricism, skepticism, and naturalism. Security features: Consecutively running black serial numbers on the reverse of the banknote.
